In the 2020 edition of The Youngsters Auction, Christoph Zimmermann and his wife Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann had great success in the auction and purchased two of the most exciting horses in the auction. Zimmermann bought the highly talented Jikke-Cara in partnership with Olympic silver medallist Kent Farrington and purchased the striking Magnolia WS with the aim of a sports and breeding career at Meyer Zimmermann. “Now, one year later, we are still very happy with these two horses and knowing what I know now, I would buy these horses everyday again. No doubt about that!”, Christoph Zimmermann tells about Jikke-Cara and Magnolia WS.
Modern sporthorse
The now 7-year-old Jikke-Cara was the most popular sporthorse in the 2020 edition of the auction, while Magnolia WS was without a doubt the most popular 3-year-old. “Jikke-Cara is a very modern sporthorse; she is very light footed, careful, very athletic – she is really the horse you are looking for these days. Recently we jumped her at home again and we were amazed with how easily she jumps a big fence – it is effortless for her”, Christoph Zimmermann tells about the half-sister of the Olympic horse Appy-Cara.
Grand Prix potential
“Jikke-Cara has been ridden by Mylene Kruse and Emily Ward in the past year and both riders really like her as well. She has confirmed what we saw in the auction and in the shows leading up to the auction; she definitely did not disappoint us at all.” Zimmermann sees a bright future for Jikke-Cara. “I think she is a horse with all the potential to become a Grand Prix horse – time will tell whether it is going to be CSI3* Grand Prixs or CSI5* Grand Prixs, but she definitely does everything very easy.”
Excited about Magnolia’s future
Magnolia WS (Inaico VDL x For Pleasure) showed off plenty of talent as a loose jumper and now under saddle, she shows the same quality. “Magnolia is a mare we really believe in. When we got her home and let her loose jump, she jumped amazing again. Now she is broken in and she has jumped a few times under saddle and each time she jumps, she jumps better. Magnolia jumps really good from behind, always with her body upwards and shows a lot of power from the floor”, Christoph Zimmermann explains.
In 2021, Magnolia WS also joined the breeding program of Meyer Zimmermann. “We registered her as a broodmare with the Holsteiner Verband and next year she will hopefully get a foal by Cardento through embryo transplantation. We take our time with her and she will probably do her first shows in the beginning of 2022. We are very excited about what the future holds for her!”
