For the 4th edition, The Youngsters Auction has fully focussed on 3-year-old showjumpers. “In our previous editions we have experienced that the demand for strictly selected 3-year-olds is high and for this edition, we decided to solely focus on this category. In May of 2022 we will organize another auction, fully focussed on ridden sporthorses”, auction organizer Peter van der Waaij states.
Tesla Z: sister of Kaleche out of sister of Aris
The 2021 collection for Tuesday 23 November includes some highly interesting young showjumpers. One of the most exciting auction horses is the 3-year-old mare Tesla Z – a daughter of Thunder van de Zuuthoeve out of the full sister of Janika Sprunger’s 1.60m jumper Aris CMS. Tesla Z is also the half-sister to top talent Kaleche, who became British National champion as a 5- and 6-year-old ridden by Ronnie Jones. “Tesla Z combines an incredible pedigree with looks and talent. She has the kind of mentality you look for in a mare; she has great confidence, superb reflexes and an explosive push from the floor”, Peter van der Waaij describes Tesla Z.
¾ sister of Chaplin; the best damlines represented
Another highly interesting mare is Nacaltha WS – a daughter of Verdi out of the half-sister of World Cup winner Chaplin of Martin Fuchs. “Nacaltha WS is maybe not the most flashy jumper at this moment, but she definitely shows the right ingredients. We all know that Verdi’s offspring get better with age and her damline predicts a bright future”, Jasper van der Waaij states on behalf of The Youngsters Auction.
The best damlines are represented in this year’s collection; Andiamo’s Asca Z was bred out of the sister of Sea Coast Pebbles Z and Aristo Z, Nevera Z is a daughter of Chacoon Blue out of the same dam as Grand Prix jumpers Bengtsson and I’m Vera, the Highway M TN son Newstar was bred out of the sister of MacKinley, who won team silver at the Olympics in Athens. Furthermore, the collection includes offspring of Grand Prix stallions like Comme Il Faut, Grand Slam VDL, Apardi and Maloubet de Pleville, as well as talents by upcoming stallions like Ibolensky, Matisse de Mariposa and Nestor de Mariposa.
Cian O’Connor about reference Leicester: ‘One of the most exciting young horses’
Over the past years, the auction references have put The Youngsters Auction on the map: Je T’Aime Z breaks through at Grand Prix level with Giampiero Garofalo, Karanza wins class after class with Jaroslaw Skrzynczynski and Calvin, Quantro and Lamira all participated in the FEI World Championships for Young Horses in Lanaken in 2021. Lamira even made it into the final ridden by Maartje Verberckmoes and Quantro showed off enormous scope with Tobias Thoenes. Both Lamira and Quantro were sold as 3-year-olds in The Youngsters Auction and the same goes for the exceptional talent Leicester. Ridden by Ada Braaten, Leicester became the Norwegian champion of the 5-year-olds and was purchased by Olympic medallist Cian O’Connor. “Leicester is one of the most exciting young horses I have seen for many years!”, O’Connor states about the reference of The Youngsters Auction.
